Design to Production Hits 5,000 Screens Under Management

Design to Production has reached a major milestone, with more than 5,000 digital screens now under active management across Australia, the majority deployed within retail environments such as shopping centres.

The milestone highlights the company’s growing role as a partner in retail media infrastructure, particularly in the rollout and management of small format digital networks at scale. As shopping centres and retail destinations continue to invest in digital experiences and media networks, the need for consistent performance across large, distributed screen networks has become increasingly critical.

While many providers focus on deployment, Design to Production has built its model around the full lifecycle of a digital asset. From design, engineering and manufacturing through to installation and ongoing management, every stage is handled in-house to ensure consistency and control. This integrated approach enables the team to support complex retail environments, where network uniformity, uptime and presentation are essential.

At the centre of this capability is the National Operations Centre (NOC), which provides real-time visibility across all connected screens. Operating continuously, the NOC allows Design to Production to monitor performance, detect issues early and resolve them before they impact operations.

This visibility is enabled by Design to Production’s proprietary dpEMS platform, which delivers live performance data and diagnostics across every screen in the network. Data is captured at the source via the dpEMS telemetry device, an enclosure ‘heartbeat’ monitor that operates independently from the hardware, providing continuous insight into connectivity, power and overall system health.

Together, dpEMS and the NOC provide a single view of network health, allowing the team to anticipate issues, respond in real time and maintain consistent uptime at scale.

Rather than reacting to faults, the focus is on proactive intervention, ensuring networks remain live, content is delivered as intended, and downtime is minimised.

This approach is reflected in performance outcomes. Across its managed network, Design to Production is currently achieving over a 99% uptime, a critical benchmark for retail media environments where screens play a direct role in revenue generation, brand experience and customer engagement.

“This milestone is a reflection of the systems, people and processes we’ve built around performance,” said Mick Blundell, General Manager at Design to Production. “In retail environments especially, there is no margin for downtime. Our clients rely on these networks to deliver campaigns and experiences at scale, and our NOC gives us the visibility and control to ensure that happens consistently.”

As digital signage continues to evolve into essential infrastructure across retail and commercial environments, the demands on performance and reliability are only increasing. Managing thousands of endpoints requires more than technology alone. It requires the right systems, processes and operational discipline to support them at scale.

Reaching 5,000 screens under management is a significant step, but it also signals what comes next. With continued investment in its NOC, proprietary monitoring tools and national support capability, Design to Production is well positioned to support the next phase of growth in retail media networks, delivering not just screens, but fully managed, high-performing infrastructure.
